About

Khodayar Sheibani opened his eyes to this world in the late 70's.

Even during childhood he showed a tremendous amount of interest towards art. Khodayar received his first compact analog camera as a gift when he was only about 9 from his father, but the fascination and passion with nature and photographs had already begun. As he gradually grew up, this interest progressively became practical. In his early teenage years he invested his time into photography; with the use of Analogue cameras. Most his focus was in his natural surroundings and environment, and most importantly people.

Khodayar's uncle, Kamran Sheibani, had great influence in the path that he had chosen for himself. His uncle's initial guidance not only added to Khodayar's interest in photography. He learned the basic techniques of working with light, color and contrast; from this moment on, he was placed on an academic and theoretically correct route.

Later on, he used the experience and a little guidance from Farhad Sheibani, one of his father's uncles, and Hossein Maher, a dear friend, to better mature his knowledge and work. To this date, Khodayar considers the late Nikol Faridani as one of his greatest influences and masters. Khodayar made sure to attend Nikol's shows when he was still alive. In doing so, Khodayar gained a specific aptitude and passion for nature and landscape photography. Nikol Faridani's greatest impact on Khodayar's work has been his masterful understanding of nature and capturing it in correspondence; Khodayar too has followed his footsteps in capturing these moments.

Khodayar as the photographer also showed a tremendous amount of interest in music. From his early teenage years he based a lot of his idea and actions on the influence of the music rising from the 60s and 70s. In doing so, he pursued his temptation of music and transferred this energy into playing electric and classical guitar. This was an incredible step in Khodayar's journey, as he not only related himself with more musical group in Iran and outside of the country, but he also created a physical relationship with them. His photographic perspective was not very focused and not so generic. His works are evident in the creation of the album art and the photography of the group Black Blooms.

After finishing his university degree in Industrial engineering, and with the advancement of technology, he has put his attention on Digital Photography. Other examples of what Khodayar's been involving himself in could be his involvement in criticizing and analyzing very famous photographs as they were portrayed in magazines or in conventions. His activity in this field has not been as strong as his other expenditure, but it has been an ongoing aspect since early 2000's.

Until today, Khodayar has joined the Royal Photographic Society of United Kingdom and he has expanded his knowledge and activity in photography, encountering and attempting different styles of this genre. Categories including: abstract, environment, city, animals, portrait, real, sports-related, fashion, and much more. His involvement in photography conventions is also very apparent; no matter the style he has provided his work in Iranian conventions and abroad.
